Class Info

Additional Information

This list is for the people who want to learn how to paint with Acrylics for the class starting Thursday November 13th at Eastwind Gallery in Orleans Center, 34 Main Street, Orleans MA.  02653.  This class is given by Kathleen Sylvester (508) 420 - 3299.  Please leave me a message if you have any questions or concerns and I will get back to you.

Bring your paintbrushes from Watercolor Class or purchase a set of Royal Langnickel 12 brush soft black taklon.  ( I use a #4 bright, a #2 flat, a #6 filbert, and a #4 script by Princeton Art and Brush, but they are much more expensive .) Both can be found at AC Moore. Look for the coupon in Sunday's Cape Cod Times for 40% -50% off a single item.

You will need 2 yellows; Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Light or Medium, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium, Pthlo Blue (green shade), Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna and a large tube of Titanium White.  (we will mix the dark shades so no black is neccessary)  If you need any other color, instructor will provide.  You may get any brand of paint: I use Liquitex or Golden, but I know AC Moore has tubes of "beginner  paints." called Basic made by Liquitex that are inexpensive.  You will probably want to upgrade your paint after you've been painting a while - so you may just want to get the Liquitex.  It's all depending on your budget.  Online is also a great place to get supplies and the Blick brand of acrylics is great for beginners as well. (

You will also need to bring in small (8"x10" or 9"x12") canvas or canvas boards to paint on, and a bag or box to hold all your equipment.  A roll of paper towels , a large jar or container of water to carry in and out of class, and an approximatly 10"x 12" or larger covered container (Tupperware-like) that you can snap tightly shut. Get some parchment paper from the supermarket or the Xmas Tree Shop to line your covered container and a sponge-like cloth to put under the parchment  to wet and keep the paint fresh.

I would prefer it if you could park at the parking lot in back of the building.  I will place a freestanding sign in the corner where the hairdresser and Gallant Jewlers are located, saying " Eastwind Gallery Artist Demonstration."

If you get lost please call 774-521-9329. Eastwind Gallery is located downstairs as you pass through the back door. I am looking forward to seeing you soon and teaching you again!
